True-Spot was started in Oklahoma by 3 utility construction experts. Together, they have a total of 58 years of experience in horizontal directional drilling, excavating and trenching. All three have been heavily involved in underground construction, being a part of nearly every large project in Tulsa and surrounding areas. They have contracted with electrical service providers, telecommunications providers, VOIP providers, electrical contractors, cities and municipalities, plumbing contractors, geothermal contractors, custom pool builders, general contractors, industrial facilities, shopping centers, commercial developments, large scale data centers, schools, churches and everything in between. To say they have a vast knowledge of the utility locating industry and its shortcomings would be an understatement. Their combined customers range from one man shops to multi-state, multi-billion dollar organizations, charities and just about every other size and type of organization you could imagine. All three have substantial experience in horizontal directional drilling on HDD rigs from 5 to 500,000 lbs. Years of frustration in inadequate, incorrect and often simply incompleted underground utility locating finally hit a little too close to home in 2019. An accident involving a completely un-located underground gas line caused an injury to three first responders. While due diligence was done to avoid this type of situation and despite several updated and second notice locate tickets being called, it was still a very pivotal moment. They really started looking at this problem from a vantage point of, ‘What can we do to help solve this problem, rather than what can we do to help deal with this problem.’ It was a short time later the opportunity presented itself to do just that with a long term customer and they jumped in head first. It is with that zeal that True-Spot was quite literally started based on looking at the market leader and saying, “How do we not suck like them?”
